About This Project
Child Faith is the latest self produced album by The Crossing Crew. Track one is "Running All The Time," an earthy back and forth between southern roots guitar work and slightly gritty vocals. Horns are a distant reminder of our temporary freedom from an inevitable future, we choose each day how we greet that future.
"Teach Your Children Well" encourages parents to be a shining example for their kids; making the love of God about life and a not just something people do in church.
The song "Riptide Wrangler" is a stylistic departure for The Crossing Crew, with a slow raegae-esque mood for dealing with that riptide tugging at our faith.
The lyrics and arrangement on "Gonna Be Fine" are reminiscent of a summer camp sing-along around a bonfire by the lake. Vocals by James Paul meet that moment.
"Early Risers Anthem" was a melody born one morning when James Paul had a little too much coffee.
The next tune is for the rest of us who do not naturally have a "Heart Of Gold" but are working at it. The album theme "Child Faith" is constant here as with the other songs. Harmonies and horns make this song one of the more dynamic tunes here.
After listening to this point, it is clear this is not worship music, religious music, or gospel music. These songs don't seem to fit the typical contemporary christian music formula. The Crossing Crew is creating everyday songs in Folk, Indie Folk, Folk Rock, Americana, with a little country and blues mixed in.
This is not church music. These songs speak more to someone living each day of the week as if there is a God. The lyrics come from experience, saying hey, if you do believe, excel in the basics, living an uncomplicated, child like faith.
"Say You Say Why" a response to a close one who believes in God but was doubting his faith.
"Writing On The Wall" deals with illness and dying in a way only someone with Child Faith could relate to.
Finally, 'Racing Angels Home" is that innocent Child Faith in action, overcoming fear along the way.

all I can say is don't live a lie
defer to the giver of life, and maker of good things

Racing Angels Home
Years ago, I walked the streets of our little town
and raced each cone of light that was shining down
I chased my growing feet so scared and alone
but I always felt safe, I always felt safe when I got home
when winter came, cast a blanket of white
deafening silence of snow falling down
peaceful as it was, I fled the night
frost formed, with each hurried breath
fear filled feet found friendly ground
