signing my confession
thought it was my lesson learned

Remember Me
the May rains began, and did not stop till June
homes and lives lost, in that Texas monsoon
people passed by, considered the toll
fewer than last year, we pray for their souls
faith opens the heavens
and rains hope in your heart
sprouts life so beautiful
when we live who we are
and the soft place we grow
vines reach out so far
as the love we give away
leave behind when we part
in the flood plain, tethered a memory
the work of their hands, somewhere downstream
two years from now, a fisherman will see
and silent voices will say, remember me
faith opens the heavens
and rains hope in your heart
sprouts life so beautiful
when we live who we are
and the soft place we grow
vines reach out so far
as the love we give away
leave behind when we part
on this rock by grace, some still believe
fingers to the bone, for a monument to me
